Urgent help needed!
After four years, we're just a few steps away from completing the long journey to build accommodation facilities that will serve as a our first line response for veterans and their families. October will see our last major works effort to complete the GVR accommodation capacity and capability and be ready for our official opening on 10 November. Here at the Retreat, we've been working tirelessly to create a haven where our Veterans and their families can meet, bond, relax and create lasting memories. However, we have urgent funding needs that requires your generosity and support.
Our urgent needs:
The Retreat urgently needs to upgrade the power supply and the site work had been started. However, the current Ausnet electrical power transformer in our street is outdated and will not meet the increased demands of the Retreat. This limits our provision of the increased amenities and services we provide.
We need materials to complete the accommodation cabins refurbishment and fit out and an associated sewer upgrade.
Here's how you can make a difference:
Upgrade the Transformer: The upgrade to three phase electrical power of the Retreat to meet our increased accommodation needs is in progress right now with qualified volunteers hard at work onsite digging trenches and laying cables. We have just been told by Ausnet, the electricity provider, that the street power transformer needs upgrading and our share of the cost is $8,000. We were unaware of this until now and it is NOT in our budget. Seeking $8,000
Complete the Accommodation: A team of Army Reserve Engineers will be on site in mid-October as part of their skills training to complete the refurbishment of the last piece of our accommodation – a donated second hand cabin with two fully self-contained family rooms with kitchenettes and ensuites.
Your support with this project will provide the materials needed to make these spaces modern, refreshed, welcoming, and equipped to meet the needs of our veterans and their families. Associated with this capability enhancement, we need to finish the upgrade of our septic capacity. The Army is providing the Trades labor but to make the most of their efforts we need help with materials. Seeking $10,000
Your donation, no matter the size, will go a long way in making these crucial upgrades a reality. Together, we can create an environment where veterans and their families can find peace, tranquility, and a sense of reconnection.
